25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey’s ‘Dreamlover’

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Mariah Carey’s, ‘Dreamlover’, the lead single from her Diamond-certified ‘Music Box’ album.


The single became her 7th #1 single in the US, staying on top for 8 weeks, which at the time, was her longest run. It was also her 3rd #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart.

It became Mariah’s 5th #1 hit in Canada, and a Top 10 around the world.

Mariah won 2 BMI Pop Awards for ‘Dreamlover’; ‘Best Songwriter Of The Year’ and ‘Best Pop Songwriter’.


Mariah was awarded the Billboard Award for Best Soul and R&B Single in 1994.

The song was also nominated for a ‘Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female’ Grammy Award, and ‘Favourite Soul/R&B Single’ at the American Music Awards in 1994, however both of these were awarded to Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’.
