23rd Anniversary of Deborah Cox’s self-titled debut album

23 years ago today, Deborah Cox’s self-titled debut album was released.

The album included the singles ‘Sentimental’, ‘Who Do U Love’, ‘Where Do We Go From Here’, ‘The Sound Of My Tears’ and ‘Just Be Good To Me’.

‘Who Do U Love’ was the biggest worldwide hit from the album and was also her first #1 hit on the US Dance Club Songs chart. Deborah has since collected thirteen #1 dance hits.

Writers on the album include Diane Warren, Babyface, Dallas Austin and Daryl Simmons. Deborah co-wrote three of the songs on the album, including the R&B hit ‘Sentimental’. It was executively produced by Clive Davis, who was the one who signed Deborah.

Deborah was awarded a Juno Award, which is for Canadian artists, for Best R&B/Soul Recording.
