17th Anniversary of Mariah Carey’s ‘Glitter’ soundtrack

On this day in 2001, Mariah Carey released ‘Glitter’.


As the soundtrack for a movie set in the ’80s, the album was heavily retro-inspired and also sampled a number of ’80s hits.


‘Glitter’ debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack chart in the US. The lead single, ‘Loverboy’, was the best-selling single of 2001 in the US.

The soundtrack has sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
