Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’

Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’ was written by Jesse McCartney and Ryan Tedder, originally intended to be recorded by Jesse McCartney for his album ‘Departure’.

It was released as the official lead single of Leona’s debut album, ‘Spirit’, and ‘Bleeding Love’ went on to become the best-selling song of 2008 worldwide. It reached #1 in over 30 countries, which had previously only been achieved by Elton John’s ‘Candle in The Wind’.

In the UK, Leona set and broke multiple records with the success of this song. It was the fastest selling song in UK chart history. It remained at #1 for seven weeks, which is the longest run by a British female solo artist. It was also #1 on the UK End of Year chart, which made her the first British female solo artist to achieve that in the history of the chart.

In the US, Leona became the first British solo artist in 18 years to simultaneously top the albums and singles charts with ‘Spirit’ and ‘Bleeding Love’. The song also spent 52 weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Two music videos were filmed, and both have over 100 million views on YouTube.

The song remains Leona’s biggest worldwide hit.
