The song has been performed live and teased over the past few months and now we can finally add it to our playlists. It has already been included in many popular Spotify and Apple Music playlists.
‘Before I Go’ was written by Guy with David Hodges and Jamie Hartman, and produced by Jamie Hartman. David Hodges is an ex-member of Evanescence who has also written songs with Kelly Clarkson, Anastacia, Carrie Underwood, Delta Goodrem and many more, and Jamie Hartman has written songs with Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Vanessa Amorosi, Natalie Imbruglia and more.
The powerful vocal used on the release is the demo from the writing session which truly captures the passion and honesty in what Guy is singing.
“You thought you had me
You thought that I was done, but
I’m stronger up against the ropes
I am a fighter
Before this fight is over
You’ll know my name before I go”
The lyric video can be streamed on Vevo, and is also available for purchase on iTunes.
The music video for ‘Before I Go’ was filmed at the Macquarie Ice Rink in Sydney and will be out in the coming weeks.
The song was the first written for Guy’s untitled upcoming album, which is expected to be released early next year. Most of the album was recorded between Los Angeles and Sydney and Guy has described it as a soulful and fun album. It will include another song previewed at his ‘Then and Now’ tour earlier this year called ‘Mr. Moneybags’, and Guy’s revealed another title, ‘Love On Display’. It’s expected to also have a couple of exciting collaborations. We can’t wait!
‘Before I Go’ was actually not the only new Guy song to be released today – he also features on Samantha Jade’s new Christmas album on ‘The Magic Of Christmas Time‘.
Christmas is a busy time of year for Guy, as he puts on an annual Christmas show with friends to benefit The Sebastian Foundation, which was founded by Guy and his wife Jules Sebastian. This year it will be a free show titled ‘Carols in The Crescent‘, held at on open-air venue at Parramatta Park in Sydney called The Crescent on December 15th at 6:30pm.
If you’re from Melbourne, you have an opportunity to let Guy get you in the Christmas spirit even earlier on November 22nd when Guy and Jules light up Federation Square. Guy will headline a free show, and will be joined by a number of other entertainers between 5pm and 7:30pm.
You can also catch Guy from the comfort of your own home on a new three-part documentary airing on ABC called ‘Don’t Stop The Music‘. This is part of a campaign to bring music programs back to more schools. The show will air on November 11th at 7:40pm.
There’s a lot more to expect from Guy in the coming months on his promotional trail for ‘Before I Go’ and the new album. Watch out for him on Sunrise, radio stations and more.
