21st Anniversary of the Backstreet Boys’ ‘Millennium’ album

On this day in 1999, the iconic ‘Millennium’ album was released by the Backstreet Boys. The album topped the charts in over 15 countries and has sold 24 million copies worldwide.

The album produced four hit singles; ‘I Want It That Way’, ‘Larger Than Life’, ‘Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely’, and ‘The One’.

A cover of Joe’s ‘No One Else Comes Close’ was also included on the album, which had been released as a single by Joe the previous year.

The album debuted at #1 in the US and spent 10 nonconsecutive weeks on top. At the time it broke the record for both the highest first-day and first-week sales in history.
