Today marks the 27th anniversary of Mariah Carey’s ‘Dreamlover’, the lead single from her Diamond-certified ‘Music Box’ album.

The song became her seventh #1 single in the US, and maintained its peak for eight weeks, becoming her longest run on top at the time. It was also Mariah’s fifth #1 hit in Canada, and a Top 10 around the world.

‘Dreamlover’ earned Mariah the 1994 Billboard Award for ‘Best Soul and R&B Single’, as well as two BMI Pop Awards for ‘Best Songwriter Of The Year’ and ‘Best Pop Songwriter’.

‘Dreamlover’ marked Mariah’s first collaboration with DJ and producer David Morales, and the remix with re-sung vocals helped land her third #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart.

The song’s music video was the first to include Mariah’s beloved dog Jack.
