27th Anniversary of Toni Braxton’s ‘Breathe Again’

On this day in 1993, Toni Braxton released the iconic Babyface-penned single ‘Breathe Again’ from her debut album.

Although Toni’s previous single ‘Another Sad Love Song’ enjoyed moderate worldwide success, ‘Breathe Again’ became her breakout hit around the world.

The single peaked at #2 in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and #3 in the US.

‘Breathe Again’ earned Toni a Grammy Award for ‘Best Female R&B Vocal Performance’, and Soul Train Music Award for ‘Best R&B/Soul Single, Female’.

In addition to the well-known black and white music video, there was also a video made for the Spanish version of the song, and a colour version produced for the European market. The alternate videos aren’t available on Toni’s YouTube channel, but can be found on the 2001 DVD release ‘From Toni With Love: The Video Collection’.

Toni’s new album ‘Spell My Name’ featuring the singles ‘Do It’ and ‘Dance’ will be out on August 28th. Pre-order now.
