During the recording sessions for ‘Glitter’ twenty years ago, Mariah Carey recorded a phenomenal cover of Irene Cara’s ‘Out Here On My Own’ from the 1980 Fame soundtrack, but the recording remained locked up in the vault until now.

The track which appears on Mariah’s upcoming album ‘The Rarities’ is now available to stream and download everywhere.

Yesterday, Mariah shared a glimpse into her upcoming memoir on social media, revealing the personal significance of ‘Out Here On My Own’. At a young age, Mariah performed the song at a talent show where she won a trophy and felt validated as an artist for the first time in her life.
Mariah’s memoir ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey‘ will be out on September 29th, and ‘The Rarities‘ album will be available everywhere on October 2nd.
