On this day in 1999, Jessica Simpson released her debut single, ‘I Wanna Love You Forever’ from the album ‘Sweet Kisses’.

The song peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100, which remains her highest charting single in the US. It also topped the Hot 100 Singles Sales chart for four weeks.

In Australia, the song stayed in the Top 20 for twelve weeks, peaking at #9. The single was certified Platinum in both the US and Australia.
It was also a Top 20 hit around the world, and is widely considered her signature song.

Jessica released her memoir ‘Open Book’ earlier this year, which topped the New York Times Best Seller list.
