25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey’s ‘Open Arms’

Released: December 5th, 1995

‘Open Arms’ was originally released by Journey in 1982, and Mariah Carey covered the song for her ‘Daydream’ album in 1995.

Mariah’s single release saw its greatest success in the UK where it peaked at #4, selling over 100,000 copies.

The song was also a Top 10 hit in New Zealand and Ireland.

The music video for the song was taken from a Madison Square Garden live performance which was being filmed for a television special, as was the Spanish version of the song, ‘El Amor Que Soñé’.

‘El Amor Que Soñé’ was recently included on the digital EP ‘Mariah En Español‘ in 2020, and is now available across all online platforms.

The Australian ‘Open Arms’ CD single exclusively included a B-Side called ‘Slipping Away’, which later appeared on North American releases of ‘Always Be My Baby’ the following year, and finally had a global release 25 years later as part of ‘The Rarities‘ compilation.
