26th Anniversary of Monica’s ‘Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)’

On this day in 1995, Monica released her debut single, ‘Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)’, from the album ‘Miss Thang’.

The single peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for three weeks, spent two weeks at #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and was certified Platinum. At the age of only fourteen, Monica became the youngest artist to have two consecutive #1 singles on the R&B chart when her next single ‘Before You Walk Out Of My Life’ also topped the chart.

‘Don’t Take It Personal’ was also a Top 10 hit in both Australia and New Zealand, and sold over 2 million copies worldwide.

There were three different music videos shot for the song; the first where Monica had longer black hair, then short blonde, and finally the video released to the world with short black hair. The first two videos have never been publicly shared.
