29th Anniversary of Shai’s ‘If I Ever Fall In Love’

On this day in 1992, Shai released their debut single, which was also their biggest hit, ‘If I Ever Fall In Love’.

The song spent eight weeks at #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, kept from the top spot by ‘How Do You Talk To An Angel’ by The Heights, and Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’. It peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Songs chart, R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

It also peaked at #4 in Australia, and #5 in New Zealand.

‘If I Ever Fall In Love’ was written and produced by Shai group member Carl Martin, and has since been covered by a number of other artists including East 17 and Gabrielle, and Australian R&B group, CDB.
