On this day in 1995, Mariah Carey released her fifth studio album, ‘Daydream‘.

The album debuted at #1 in nine countries, including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and the US.
It became Mariah’s second album to be certified Diamond in the US, following ‘Music Box’, and it remains one of the best-selling albums in history.

The iconic release spawned six singles, including three #1 hits:
- ‘Fantasy’, which made Mariah the first female artist to debut at #1 in the US. The track has recently seen a chart resurgence around the world after being featured in the 2021 motion picture ‘Free Guy’ starring Ryan Reynolds.
- ‘One Sweet Day’ with Boyz II Men, which held the 23-year Billboard Hot 100 record for the most weeks at #1 (for sixteen weeks).
- ‘Always Be My Baby’, which became Mariah’s eleventh #1 single, and at the time tied her with Whitney Houston and Madonna for the most #1 songs by a solo female artist. Mariah has since surpassed them, and now has the most #1 singles in history by any solo artist, with nineteen.

A 1995 sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden aired as a television special in support of the album, and was later released as a home video titled ‘Fantasy: Mariah Carey at Madison Square Garden’. Footage from that show was used for the music video of ‘Open Arms’ and its Spanish version, ‘El Amor Que Soñé’.

As part of celebrating Mariah’s incredible milestone of thirty wonderful years in the music industry in 2020, four comprehensive digital EPs were released for ‘Fantasy‘, ‘One Sweet Day‘, ‘Always Be My Baby‘ and ‘Underneath The Stars‘, featuring remixes and live performances.
The compilation ‘The Rarities‘ included a disc of seventeen live tracks from one of Mariah’s 1996 Daydream Tour shows at Tokyo Dome, and some performances from the concert are also available to watch on her YouTube channel in HD. Additionally, ‘El Amor Que Soñé’ was included on the digital EP ‘Mariah En Español‘.

The music videos for ‘Fantasy’ and ‘Fantasy (Remix)’ have been upgraded to 4K, while ‘One Sweet Day’ and ‘Always Be My Baby’ have been remastered in HD.
In November 2020, the never-before-released ‘Underneath The Stars’ music video premiered on Mariah’s YouTube channel for the first time.
