On this day in 1998, ‘I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You’ by Tina Arena and Marc Anthony was released. The track served as the theme song for the soundtrack of ‘The Mask of Zorro’, and played in the closing credits of the film.

It was written by James Horner and Will Jennings, the duo responsible for Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’.
Tina has said she was not in the studio with Marc to record the song; she completed her vocals first, and Marc added his parts afterwards. The two artists were brought together for the track by producer Jim Steinman, and had never heard of each other prior to this. They later filmed the music video together and did rounds of promotion, which included performing the song on ‘Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee’ in the US.
The song was awarded an ALMA Award in 1999 for ‘Best Song In A Motion Picture’.

The song peaked at #3 in France, #4 in the Netherlands and #9 in Belgium.
