On this day in 1996, Dru Hill’s ‘In My Bed’ was released as the second single from their self-titled debut album, following the Top 20 hit ‘Tell Me’.
In the US, ‘In My Bed’ became the group’s first #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where it spent three weeks on top, and it also peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 chart. It has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Elsewhere, it was notably a Top 20 hit in the UK and Germany.
The So So Def remix featuring Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat was also hugely popular on radio, and had its own music video.
