20 years ago today, Brandy’s ‘What About Us?’ premiered globally online for streaming via AOL Music. It served as the the first single from her ‘Full Moon’ album.
The Rodney Jerkins production introduced an edgier, more mature sound for Brandy, coupled with a sexier look. The making of the futuristic music video directed by Dave Myers aired on MTV’s ‘Making The Video’ on January 10th, 2002.
The song was a Top 10 hit across the world, including Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, Scotland, Switzerland, the UK and the US. It was certified Gold in Australia, and won a BMI Urban Award.
