On this day in 2006, Keyshia Cole released ‘Love’ from her debut album ‘The Way It Is’.
It’s considered her breakthrough single, being her first to crack the Top 20 in the US, peaking at #19, and also her first to be certified Platinum. It peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

‘Love’ was the song which Keyshia performed for the A&M Records executive which resulted in her record deal. It was initially set to be her debut single, but the song ‘Never’ was chosen instead.
The music video featured Tyrese as Keyshia’s love interest.

‘Love’ has been covered by a number of artists including Bruno Mars, H.E.R. and Avery Wilson.
