On this day in 2019, Monica released the R&B hit ‘Commitment’ as the first single from her upcoming album ‘Trenches’, which was originally titled ‘Chapter 38’.
The long-awaited album is finally set to be released in 2022 after countless delays. It will become the first to be released independently under Monica’s own ‘MonDeenise Music’ label.

‘Commitment’ became Monica’s fourth #1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart, and her first #1 on the chart since ‘Love All Over Me’ in 2010. It was also #10 on the 2019 Adult R&B Airplay Year-End chart.

The ‘Commitment’ music video, where Monica plays an inmate, was directed by Teyana Taylor, and features a cameo by Tiny Harris from Xscape.
