On this day in 2014, Toni Braxton and Babyface released their collaboration album ‘Love, Marriage & Divorce’.
The album featured eight duets, two solo songs by Toni and one solo track by Babyface. There was also a deluxe edition available exclusively at Target which featured two bonus duets.
The album’s lead single ‘Hurt You’ spent four weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart. The making of the track’s music video was documented on reality show Braxton Family Values, as was part of the album making process.
‘Love, Marriage and Divorce’ debuted at #4 in the US, making it Toni’s fifth Top 5 album and Babyface’s highest-charting album of his career. It also debuted at #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
In 2015, it earned Toni and Babyface a Grammy Award for ‘Best R&B Album’.
Both Toni and Babyface have confirmed that they intend to release a follow-up collaboration album, tentatively titled ‘Love, Marriage and Divorce Part 2’.
