Today marks the 35th anniversary of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’, which was released as the first single from her second studio album ‘Whitney’.
The worldwide hit peaked at #1 in fourteen countries, and earned Whitney numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’ and an American Music Award for ‘Favourite Pop/Rock Single’. It also topped the Dance and Adult Contemporary charts in the US, where it has been certified 6x Platinum.
The song is currently her most streamed song on Spotify and has over 355 million views on YouTube. ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ is also the title of Whitney’s upcoming biopic set to be released later this year.
