On this day in 1996, Monica released ‘Why I Love You So Much’, written and produced by Darryl Simmons, as the final single from her debut album ‘Miss Thang’.
The release was a double A-side with ‘Ain’t Nobody’ featuring Treach of Naughty By Nature, from the ‘Nutty Professor’ soundtrack.

It was Monica’s third consecutive Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and also peaked at #3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Outside of the US, it peaked at #22 in New Zealand.
In March 2021, the ‘Why I Love You So Much’ music video became Monica’s first to cross 100 million views on YouTube. Filmed in San Fransisco, it was directed by Kevin Bray, who was also responsible for Monica’s earlier ‘Before You Walk Out of My Life’ music video.
