The song went to #1 in over ten countries, including Australia, Canada, the UK and the US, and became the best-selling digital single of 2011, having sold over 12.5 million copies.
It also spent twenty weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, which remains the longest-running #1 on the chart by a debut single.
