On this day in 1992, Mary J. Blige released her debut album, ‘What’s The 411?’.

The album was certified triple Platinum (last certified in 2000) and peaked at #6 in the US, and at #1 on the R&B chart. It also produced two #1 hits on the R&B singles chart; ‘You Remind Me’, and ‘Real Love’.

Mary took home two Soul Train Awards for the album, for ‘Best New R&B Artist’ and ‘Best R&B Album, Female’.
