On this day in 1997, Mary J. Blige released ‘Everything’ from her ‘Share My World’ album.

In the UK, it became Mary’s first Top 10 hit, peaking at #6, and was #3 on the UK R&B singles chart.
The song was also successful in New Zealand, becoming Mary’s fourth Top 20 hit there, peaking at #13.

In the US, ‘Everything’ reached #5 on the R&B singles chart, and #24 on the Hot 100.
The song was nominated for a Soul Train Music Award, however it lost to Erykah Badu’s ‘On and On’.

The main music video was filmed in Hawaii with beautiful scenic shots, directed by Hype Williams. The popular ‘So So Def Remix’ produced by Jermaine Dupri also had its own video, directed by Steve Willis.
