On this day in 1998, Tina Arena released ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ from her #1 multi-Platinum album ‘In Deep’.

The song was originally performed by Foreigner in 1984, and written by group member Mick Jones. It was a #1 hit for the group around the world.
Mick Jones went on to produce the majority of ‘In Deep’ and in the process of recording the album, Tina decided she wanted to cover ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ because she had such a strong connection with it growing up. Tina pointed out that the song never had a bridge, and Mick decided to write a new section in the song specifically for her.
Lou Gramm of Foreigner also provided some background vocals on the track.

The single was most successful in France where is was certified Silver, and peaked at #13.
The song has also been covered by Mariah Carey, Rhona Bennett (of En Vogue) and more.
