On this day in 2012, Guy Sebastian released ‘Battle Scars’ featuring Lupe Fiasco, from his ‘Armageddon’ album.

The single debuted at #1 in Australia, and has since been certified 12x Platinum. It stands as the third best-selling single in Australian history by an Australian solo artist behind ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ by Gotye, and ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones and I.
As Guy’s sixth #1 single, it placed him in tied third place for solo male artists with the most #1 singles in Australia, and also third place for all Australian artists.

In the US, ‘Battle Scars’ spent 20 weeks in the Hot 100 and was certified Platinum. It peaked at #20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart. The song also appeared on Lupe’s album ‘Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor II’, which peaked at #5 in the US and #1 on the Rap albums chart.
‘Battle Scars’ also peaked at #2 in both New Zealand and Norway.

Guy and Lupe collaborated a second time on ‘Linger’ for Guy’s 2014 album, ‘Madness’.

Since 2017, Guy has been interpolating the Indian song ‘Meri Jung’ (which translates to ‘My Battle’) into live performances of ‘Battle Scars’.
