On this day in 1996, Aaliyah released ‘If Your Girl Only Knew’, written by Missy Elliott and Timbaland. It was the lead single from her second album, ‘One In a Million’.
It was also re-released the following year as a double A-side single with ‘One In a Million’.
The music video featured cameo appearances from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Lil’ Kim and 702.
In the US, it peaked at #11 on the Hot 100 and topped the R&B chart for two weeks. Elsewhere it peaked at #15 in the UK and #20 in New Zealand.
