On this day in 2001, Nelly Furtado released ‘Turn Off The Light’ from her debut album, ‘Whoa, Nelly!’.

‘Turn Off The Light’ was a Top 20 hit around the world. It became Nelly’s first of four #1 singles in New Zealand, and was certified Gold there. It also peaked at #1 in Portugal and Romania. In the US, it peaked at #5 and the dance remix topped the Dance Club Songs chart.
The single won numerous awards including a Billboard Music Video Award, and a Radio Music Award.

There were two music videos filmed for the song, although only one is available on her YouTube channel.
