On this day in 1995, ‘Brokenhearted’ was released by Brandy and Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men.

The song was originally recorded by Brandy alone, and appears on her self-titled debut album as a solo performance.
Almost a year after the album’s release, the song was re-recorded as a duet with Wanya Morris while Boyz II Men and Brandy were touring together. It was labelled the ‘Soulpower Mix’ and released as the final single from the ‘Brandy’ album.

In the US, it became Brandy’s third Top 10 hit, peaking at #9 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It also peaked at #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, behind Mariah Carey’s ‘Fantasy’. Internationally, it peaked at #6 in New Zealand.

The music video, which was directed by Hype Williams, was added to Brandy’s official YouTube channel in 2019 for the first time, along with a number of other videos from her back catalogue.
