On this day in 1989, Janet Jackson released ‘Miss You Much’ as the lead single from her iconic ‘Rhythm Nation 1814’ album.

The music video and the song’s choreography is regarded as iconic, and highly influential to future generations of dancers in the music industry.
In the US, ‘Miss You Much’ became Janet’s second #1 hit on the Hot 100, her fourth #1 on the Dance Club Songs chart, and her sixth #1 on the R&B chart. It was a Top 20 hit internationally, notably peaking at #2 in both Canada and New Zealand.
‘Miss You Much’ won two American Music Awards for ‘Favourite Soul/R&B Single’ and ‘Favourite Dance Single’, and a Soul Train Music Award for ‘Single of The Year, Female’.

In 2019, a digital EP titled ‘Miss You Much: The Remixes’ was added to all music services with thirteen versions of the song, and the music video was also remastered in HD.
