On this day in 1999, Destiny’s Child released ‘Bug a Boo’ as the second single from ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’.

All four original group members (Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson) are credited as co-writers on the song, along with Kandi Burruss and She’kspere.
It was the group’s final music video to feature LeToya and LaTavia before they were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. The video also featured cameo appearances by Kobe Bryant, and Wyclef Jean.

Kelly Rowland admitted in an interview years after the song’s release that ‘Bug a Boo’ is her least-favourite Destiny’s Child song because of the outdated references in the lyrics, such as “pagin’ my beeper”, “have AOL make my email stop”, and “tell MCI to cut the phone calls”.

The single’s highest charting positions globally were #6 in Netherlands and #9 in the UK. It charted within the Top 30 in a number of countries, and in the US, it peaked at #15 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
