On this day in 2001, Usher released the R&B ballad ‘U Got It Bad’ as the second single from his ‘8701’ album.
Written by Usher with Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, ‘U Got It Bad’ became Usher’s third #1 hit in the US, and stayed on top for six nonconsecutive weeks.
In both Australia and New Zealand, the song spent fourteen consecutive weeks in the Top 20, peaking at #3. It has been certified 2x Platinum in Australia, and Gold in New Zealand.
The music video stars TLC group member Chilli, playing Usher’s love interest.
