Today marks the 22nd anniversary of Destiny’s Child’s worldwide hit, ‘Independent Women’.
It was the group’s most successful single release. It appeared on both the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ soundtrack, as well as their ‘Survivor’ album.

The song spent eleven consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, which remains the most weeks on top by an all-female group. It also topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

It was a Top 10 hit around the world, and went to #1 in the UK, New Zealand and more.

It was the group’s only single to feature vocals from short-lived member Farrah Franklin, although she had already left the group by the time the music video was filmed.
