On this day in 2009, Mariah Carey released her version of ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, originally recorded by Foreigner in 1984.
It was released as the second single from Mariah’s album, ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’.

‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ spent an incredible 27 weeks at #1 in Brazil, which stands as the record for the most weeks at #1 in the country.
Mariah also holds the record in Brazil as the female artist with the most cumulative weeks at #1.

The song peaked in the Top 10 in France, Hungary, Japan and Portugal. In the US, it peaked at #2 on the Dance Club Songs chart, and #10 on Adult Contemporary.
The music video depicts Mariah singing at New York’s Yankee Stadium and was directed by Hype Williams.

Mariah performed the song on a number of television shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show and The X Factor in the UK.
