On this day in 1993, Tevin Campbell released the hit single ‘Can We Talk’ from his second studio album, ‘I’m Ready’.
Written by Babyface and Daryl Simmons, ‘Can We Talk’ became Tevin’s fourth #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, spending three weeks on top, and earned him a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B Single.
It has been certified Gold in both Australia, where it peaked at #12 and the US where it peaked at #9. It’s widely regarded as Tevin’s signature song.
Usher surprised his Las Vegas residency audience earlier this month by bringing out Tevin Campbell on stage to perform a duet of ‘Can We Talk’.
